Poppy started ballet classes at the tender age of 2 years old in New Zealand, and after moving to Australia several years later she began to train in jazz and hip hop, and later, tap and contemporary, and lyrical. She is well experienced in performing and competing, having won many awards with our top jazz and hip hop performance groups. She worked as an Assistant Teacher at Centre Stage Academy for 4 years before taking on full teaching responsibilities. Poppy has a special talent for working with younger students and this goes hand-in-hand with her tertiary studies that are commencing soon in Primary Education. Poppy danced in the Georgina Hedges 'Because of You' music video in early 2015. One of her strengths lies within in musical theatre choreography. She choreographed the Roseville College Junior School 'Little Mermaid Musical' in 2015 and also contributed to costume design and theatrical makeup. She choreographed the Roseville College Senior School musical 'Back To The 80s’ in 2016, and will be returning as Senior School choreographer in 2018. Poppy also has a special talent for theatrical makeup and has taught makeup skills to many of our parents and students. She will be receiving her Diploma in Makeup and Special Effects from ACMUSE (Academy of Makeup and Special Effects) in early 2018. Poppy adores teaching and working with children of all ages. She finds sharing her love of dance with her students and watching them grow in confidence and ability to be most rewarding.
